[Building Sakai] Batch and the EntityCustomAction

I'm working within a Sakai 2.7 codebase.  I've got some
EntityCustomActions that are working great. I'm making the calls via
jQuery.  However, I've got a lot of them going off sending many AJAX
requests.  I am hoping to consolidate them into 1 or 2 AJAX calls instead
of the current bazillion AJAX calls (or so it feels like).

Someone told be about looking into "batch". I said.... ok.  But my web
searching has not been too fruitful seeing instructions or examples of how
to use this.

Does anyone have an example that I could use as a reference on usage? I
would appreciate it.
