[Building Sakai] Web Content tool for IE browser on Window 7 OS

I have followed your video steps and it works for me. The only thing I am concerned about is that average people could not follow the instruction.
Hopefully, Microsoft could solve this issue.

Many thanks!
Peter

Also, I was doing the screencast on a lab "admin controlled" environment. For some reason, it wouldn't let me change the "Internet Options" until I added the site to compatibility view via the compatibility view settings, then the "Internet Options" box stopped being grayed out. It might be available immediately for most users. IE7 compatibility mode is probably better anyway unless you're on 2.7.1 or 2.8.

Yes, https://ctools.umich.edu for the entire instance. Non-secure versions redirect to secure.

Are you running your instance on https mode?

Yea, I tested this on a local Windows 7, I don't see anything about a Server side fix for this. Some random mention of Microsoft patches for it but seems broken. There is about a minute and a half client side fix for this:

The procedure documented on this website works:

I did a quick (video only) screencast of this: http://www.screencast.com/t/ZjAxYzFmOTYt

Not a problem in Firefox or Chrome.

Hi All,

I have found that there is an IE browser issue on Window 7 for Web Content tool. If your Sakai instance is running on HTTPS protocol, the Web Content tool cannot take a http protocol URL ( such as http://www.yahoo.com). It will give you message on IE browser: "Navigation to the webpage was canceled".

However, it can take a https protocol URL. This is definitely a more strict security rule on IE at window 7.

Any good solution?

Thanks,
Peter Liu
