This was a request for info from a potential Sakai adopter from CT
State University regarding strategies for using Sakai with multiple
institutions.

I know of a couple of deployments that could perhaps provide info
about how they deal with it.
I'll be encouraging her to join the list.

Cheryl,

Welcome to Sakai.

I know that there are a few edge cases out there that use Sakai 2
ACROSS different enterprises.

I think the trick is that each user in Sakai gets a unique ID. In a
single institution, that is usually mapped to a student ID in the
Student Information System at that university. Same thing with
courses...the registrar system provides ID's for the course offerings
and that equates to a set of rosters and memberships in Sakai.

The trick when trying to use Sakai with multiple "providers" of that
type of information would be reconciling id's from the different
schools and authenticating that person against the relavent directory
services. Let me see what some members of the community are doing.
