[Building Sakai] media players

I was wondering if the esteemed members of this here community had any advice on which media players to use to play back Flash movies (SWF files).

We're thinking we'd like one copy of a player living in (say) the admin workspace, and then give people some "embed" code that they use on their site. We want to use the player with RSS feed which would provide the 'playlist'.

1/ what 's the best player for the job?

2/ are there cross browser issues

3/ are there cross platform issues

We're also thinking of modifying the news tool to replace hyperlinks to podcasts with embeded media player, this wopuld mean that instead of clicking on a link in News which then fires up an external player, we'd like the various players embedded on the page.

Anybody done this or have any advice or pointers?
