[Building Sakai] Who is using the Search Tool?

I believe it searches all sites that have search installed and returns only results you have permission to view. There is a way to limit search in one site to only search a specific subset of other sites but it is obscure and hard to configure.

Running search on each server seemed to have impractical resource requirements at our scale when we looked at it a couple of years ago. We are just unclear on the practical implications of letting everybody use it on all content at our scale so we don't have a plan to expand it's usage.
