[Building Sakai] import, export, copy

I'm thinking of implementing a new tool that will have to support site archive and restore and copying. What are the hooks that need to be implemented?

Also, I need the tool to be able to refer to items in other tools, e.g. tests, assignments and resources. Obviously they have to be mapped to the equivalent in the new site. How is that done?
