[Building Sakai] site stats over all sites

has anybody changed from allowing users to add site stats to individual sites to collecting site stats over all sites by altering the system wide configuration - it's possible to stipulate that site stats always be collected.

I am wondering whether the large jump in the number of sites logging user actions has any performance overheads.

if people do this but have not noticed any apparent side effects, could they estimate how many sites are being logged?
