[Building Sakai] Assignments errors specific to a student's account?

Folks,
We have a course that's using Assignments (in Sakai 2.5.3) that appears to having an issue with just one student.  In the first assignment the faculty wanted to change the students score from a 5 (which is max) to a 4.  Each time she submitted the change an additional zero was added to the user score.  The user had something in the range of 50,000.  One of our staff downloaded/uploaded a revised spreadsheet to wipe it out.    2nd assignment, same student.  Faculty wanted to give the user 0 and allow a resubmit.  The student got back their work, but can't resubmit.

Any suggestions?
