[Building Sakai] Sakai creating new resource type

You can create and register handlers for resource types in the Content 
Hosting Service. Alternatively, you can create a tool that manages it's 
own resources (usually in an RDB). Resource types in the CHS are MIME types.

Have a look at the Sakai confluence site on Content Hosting. The 
architecture documents distributed with Sakai may also be of some help, 
since they define site context and other key concepts.
