[Building Sakai] Course Number Format

A very basic, naive question: where and how does one change the allowable
course number format?

The worksite setup screen limits course numbers to 3 digits. SAK-132 is a
reported bug I found discussing this, which implies I can override the
defaults in sakai.properties. This may be true, but I somehow cannot seem
to find in the documentation exactly what I should change.
