[Building Sakai] Missing messages in Sent folder of messages

Folks,
We have a student who reported that she sent out a message and there
is no record of it in her Sent folder (sakai 2.5.3). In sakai_event
we do see this:

Her uploading two sets of attachments and messages.new. I checked
her subsequent sessions and I didn't find a messages.delete from her.
Looking at those two messages I see:

Any sights on how the modified field is used in mfr_message_t? I
haven't been able to replicate updating that field with a different
user. That user does have these two events ..

I know a double delete (flag message to "Deleted folder", then delete
from that folder) generates a messages.delete event and if I move that
message to a folder and delete that folder the message is gone, but no
event is generated for the whole sequence.
Any insights on where these messages went?
