[Building Sakai] Sakai Active Directory integration

We have a Sakai 2.5.2 instance which is being used by a small group of people.  I am now looking into integrating this instance with our active directory.  I am wondering what is going to happen with the existing user accounts when it connects to our AD for authentication.  Also, I appreciate any help with the AD integration.
