[Building Sakai] Help applying local patch to kernel

Hi all,

I have a local patch that we have been using in Sakai 2.5.x to put a user's
email address in the to field of Drop Box notification emails so they get
sent properly with our mailserver configuration. This patch is on the
DropboxNotification.java file which is now included in the kernel for Sakai
2.6. I'm not too familiar with the kernel and was wondering how I apply this
patch to the kernel so the notifications start working again.
Do I have to check out the kernel project, make the change, and rebuild and
deploy both the kernel code and the sakai code? Thanks in advance for the
help.
