Dear Sakai Team Members,

I was wondering if you might be willing to participate in a research
study. The purpose of the study is to gain a greater understanding of
the educational experiences and needs of software designers/developers
working on educational software. Data collected in this study will be
used in a dissertation study and may also be included in research
publications or conference presentations. This study has been approved
by the IU Bloomington Human Subjects committee. Permission to post
the invitation on the Sakai development mailing list has been granted
by Michael Korcuska.

If you know of colleagues either in your own organization or in
another company or organization that might be willing to participate
in this study, please forward them this email.

You will be asked to participate in a 30-40 minute phone interview,
which can be scheduled at a time that is most convenient for you. The
topics covered in the interview will be related to your educational
experiences, your work history, the types of duties you regularly
perform as part of your job, and the resources you use in your daily
work. You will not be asked for proprietary information or for
details about specific projects. The purpose of this study is to talk
about the background of software designers in general, not to profile
any specific company or individual. Therefore, names of participants
and employers will be kept anonymous.

If you have any questions about the study or procedures, please
contact me at mexter at indiana.edu.

Thank you in advance,
