Hi Sakai core team,

Sakai 10.0 is in the process of the final steps for a release. The last
few merges and conversion scripts are getting merged. The groups bug has
been addressed wrt Sakai 10.0 (more work may be needed later) [1].

The final decision looks like it is about Common Cartridge. We are close
to being able to say that Sakai 10.0 is CC compliant, but there are a
couple of code changes that have to happen.

I asked about QA and possible regressions and here is the scoop from
Charles Hedrick:

 >"To my knowledge, no one else QA’s CC. Basically this is QA. It tests
the input by loading a set of test cartridges, and tests the output by
writing cartridges and using an >IMS-supplied validator.
>
> So far I found two errors:

>* I didn’t recognize the number of points in an essay question, and so
used 1 point rather than the one specified
>* in output, the new version of the validator is requiring a couple of
metadata items that looked optional to me in the spec. This is just
adding some print statements.

>There’s no way there could affect anything other than parsing and
outputting essay questions.
"

To me, any change introduces some risk, though this seems low. Adding
print statements sounds very low risk. What do you think? Or is it just
too late and we should push CC fixes to 10.1 ?

I could think of one QA check as being a quick review of the diff for
the code, but that might presume someone other than Charles H. is
familiar with it?

Thanks,
Neal

1) https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/KNL-1270 - Students are removed
from groups when added by official rosters
Solution for now is to set authz.synchWithContainingRealm=false and to
revert https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/KNL-1250
