[Deploying Sakai] Sizing, concurrent users

At universidad de la punta, we expect to reach 60000 users with peaks of
10000 concurrent users (during exams). With our current deploy (three
tomcat instances,)  we have served 4500  users with a maximun of 1000
concurrent users (aprox 500 users with 3 instances).

We are triynig to reduce expected tomcat instances  (15!) in order to
lower administrative burden, 

¿Any thoughs or guides? ¿experiences on unixes?
