[Deploying Sakai] Sakai 2.6 and Java 1.6

Hey all,

As we are building out more nodes for our pilot here at UF, I noticed
RHEL 5.4 deprecated Java 1.5 entirely, even installing a package
"java-1.5.0-sun-uninstall" designed to helpfully remove Java 1.5,
stating that, "The Sun Java SE Release family 5.0 reached its End of
Service Life on November 3, 2009."

I saw that some folks out there have been running 1.6 for some time now,
with JAVA_OPTS="-Dsun.lang.ClassLoader.allowArraySyntax=true". I don't
plan on doing builds with these systems, so this would be strictly for
production application nodes. Has anyone had any more recent success or
failure stories? Any other JVM properties they'd recommend setting in
1.6? Any strongly worded advice? :)

Thanks in advance,
