[Deploying Sakai] Maven hangs with "WAGON_VERSION: 1.0-beta-2"

Just wanted to write and update everyone on where things stand here.

I was finally able to get 2.6.x product installed on Debian 5. I have created a detailed step-by-step list of instructions which I will post at some point in an effort to help others. I found the process of getting up and running very frustrating. The documents are scattered across the site, and I needed to integrate the Confluence docs with the instructions on 2.3.x from Serensoft to get the details on configuring the software for a specific Linux distribution. The order of the installation steps does not exactly read in a step-by-step manner, with database instructions coming at the end of the document rather than in the middle of the document, and important details being left out (such as where to place variables, what user to run the project under, etc.). Nevertheless, much of the installation documentation is very carefully and thoughtfully written, with background provided for new users on why Maven is used, how the sakai.properties file works, etc. It is evident that someone went through a lot of trouble to create the installation instructions, and it would only take a bit more tweaking for them to realize their underlying desire to create a helpful installation guide for new users. Primarily, it would be very helpful to have a step-by-step, type-this-type-that set of instructions for at least one Linux distribution taking the user from a fresh system installation to product functionality.

One additional quesiton--does anyone know where I could download the sak-new skin (or any other Sakai skins for that matter)? Most open source products have a downloads section where people can upload and download product themes. I have searched all over the place for this, and all I can find is http://skinmanager.edia.nl/portal, which allows you to view skins, but not download them. I really like the sak-new skin, but I don't know where to download it.

Thanks to any one who can help (and to everyone else for putting up with my ramblings)! :)

Paul
