Hi,

    I've copied the portfolio email list for more feedback, since the  
larger community might have some additional ideas. The short answer is  
it is possible, if you're flexible with your implementation.

    Currently, there is no ability to initialize a matrix cell status  
as 'Pending' (which triggers an evaluation), though it would be a  
minor development effort to implement this. What you can do is  
initialize a matrix cell status as 'Locked' and use the 'General  
Feedback' forms as student evaluations.
