Presenter: Josh Baron, Senior Academic Technology Officer, Marist College

The Sakai Lessons tool has gained a significant amount of attention over
the past two years as it provides new and innovative capabilities for
authoring sequenced instructional content that includes rich media and
other interactive elements. The Lessons Enhancement Project, supported by a
range of Apereo Foundation Members, was launched with the goal of
completing a major user interface/user experience overall of Lessons for
the Sakai 11 release in 2015.  Join us for an update on the Lessons
Enhancement Project and learn about progress to date on this important
community collaboration.

As Senior Academic Technology Officer at Marist College, Mr. Baron oversees
the Office of Academic Technology and eLearning which is responsible for
supporting the college's instructional technology initiatives, including
distance learning, faculty training, and student support. In addition, Mr.
Baron is leading multiple national and international educational technology
initiatives which include open-source learning management systems, academic
collaboration platforms and learning analytics projects. Mr. Baron was
first elected to the Sakai Foundation Board of Directors in 2008 and
re-elected for a second three year term in 2011.  He served as Foundation
Board Chair for three years between 2009 and 2012 and is currently a member
of the Apereo Foundation Board of Directors, having served as Chair from
2013-14, which formed from the merger of the Sakai and Jasig open-source
non-profit organizations. Most recently, Mr. Baron has also been elected to
serve on the Sakai Product Management Committee (PMC) which is the
strategic governing body for the Sakai open-source Learning Management
System project.
