[gradebook2-dev] Question about grading using letter grades

Hello,

While answering a question for a faculty member about grading with letter grades I setup a simple grade scale such as the one below (A-F, no quality points of +/-):
90-100 = A
80-89.99 = B
70-79.99 = C
60-69.99 = D
0-59.99 = F

In this scenario, assigning an A is like giving someone a 95%, it appears to take the "average" so to speak. B=85%, C=75%, D=65% and F=58.333…%

Why 58.333…% for an F? How was that number arrived at?
