Thanks Jim!
We'd be happy to have the available emails also be consolidated. My understanding (Aaron can correct me if I misunderstood) was that those emails weren't going out which is how we ended up with those 2 new checkboxes. It sounds like there's more discussion to be had if changes are to be made. Judy and I did some design work on the email admin page...I think moving in the direction you are talking about (1). This is early work. When we discussed with Aaron we realized we left out quite a few settings but you can get the general idea.
Since then, we have taken a break from doing further development work evaluation system. With Berkeley's recent move away from Sakai OAE, we are rethinking our suite of educational tools to ensure we can provide our users with a seamless, integrated experience for their teaching and learning related needs on campus. We are currently QAing the changes (including regression testing) we've made to date and once we feel things are solid, we'll release to the community so others can QA if they'd like, as part of the plans for the next release. Which reminds me I need to schedule a meeting to discuss that. Look for an email in the next few days.

The requirement was that a school was either using consolidated messages or separate messages. For example, at Michigan we use consolidated messages for the "available" emails and the "reminder" emails. Maryland does not use "available" emails at all, but they wanted to use consolidated "reminder" emails. So my point was that we organized the email-admin page around the choice between consolidated and separate emails.

That seems like something we should support. I think the "created" emails got lost in the shuffle because the schools using consolidated emails at that time did not create evals in evalsys and did not send created emails. But that's obviously important also.

Once that's done, maybe we can discuss revisions to the email-admin page to remove the top-level choice between consolidated and separate emails. Maybe that page should be organized around properties related to "created" emails, "available" emails, "reminder" emails, "completed" emails, etc.

The original intent seems to be much different than what we expected and we were having a hard time making it work for us. I'm not sure what it will take to fix what we've broken. I'll ask Unicon to look at this since they are our development team for this effort. If it isn't an easy fix I think we can pull all of our changes at this point.

>>> The "Available" email template (screen shot attached) is not sending email when evaluations are open. I'm not certain what is supposed to happen and so far haven't gotten a response to the email I sent to the list. I assume it should go out when an evaluation opens. I've been creating evaluations that open when I create them and no email has gone to evaluators.
>>> The "Created" template isn't sending emails either since I adjusted configuration settings: 1) instructors must use evaluations above in hierarchy, 2) instructors can't add questions to the evaluations 3) edited the email. Before changing those settings it seemed fine.
>>> Make sure that you use unpublished sites for testing the emails processing.
