Hi Adam

I can attempt to answer question 2. In a nutshell: this is not normal behaviour. Evals shows that red message when an error occurs that is not foreseen and is probably a bug. I do not think it is tied to permissions, but the stacktrace will give us more information.

So, kindly file a Jira with the stacktrace (if you can grab hold of it) and mention what version and checkout of Evals you are running.

You can assign the Jira to me.

Cheers

Q1 Is there a reason why there is no permissions helper in Evaluations?

Q2 We had a slight oddity. A site maintainer was creating a template, they selected 'Add suggested question' chose Instructor Effectiveness (category) and Skill (objective) (selcting all 3 questions), back on the template the clicked 'edit' and tried to change the layout. They see a red error message saying that there's a problem with the tool and the helpdesk have been informed. They see the same message if they try to change the rating scale.

But when I as a super admin try this it all works fine. This indicates it's a permissions problem but as there are only 4 permissions associated with the Evaluations tool I didnt know what to do.

I tried looking at the setting on the 'administer' page but none seemed to relate to the ability of a lecturer to change a suggested question.

There's two issues

1/ The error message should say "you don't have permission to do this" rather then there's been an error
2/ why is this opration forbidden?

If this is considered to bhe a bug I'll Jira it. I'm not familiar enough with the tool to know the implications.

Adam
