Yes, agreed. I think I was stuck in that accordion mindset based on where this was coming from.
Interestingly, I just found a cool responsive pattern that will switch between accordion and tabs, depending on the screen real estate--check it out

The tabs design looks good. I believe the main reason for the accordion design was because of the number of sections in the settings page. With only 4 sections in the new design, tabs works just as well (if not better).

Hello
Thanks to the feedback from our last meeting on the proposed samigo settings redesign ( https://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/SAM/2013-04-02+Meeting+Notes ), I have made a few improvements.

You can see updated specs attached to subtasks of SAM-2070 ( https://jira.sakaiproject.org/browse/SAM-2070 ), which I think should be pretty uncontroversial, except possibly for the renaming of those 4 sections.

The larger issue is whether the jQuery Accordion is the best design pattern for settings. Narasi had asked whether we might want this to be less accordion like and more like a wizard, where users would be forced to review all possible settings.

I considered it, but I don't want to give users the impression that they must do it in a certain order, or that every step is required. But it did raise the idea that perhaps Tabs, not wizards, was a better pattern to use for settings. And that, in turn, led to idea that maybe the entire setup of a new assessment needs to be look like a series of tabs in the long run. This, tied in with 2 new ideas (that you might want to save your settings as a new assessment type, and that you should be able to edit feedback settings from Scores page), could lead to a better overall experience.

I wouldn't mind discussing this at the next Samigo meeting. I'd prefer to talk about it, but I've also posted it here
