Hi Keli,

We, at Yale, are glad to have the opportunity to provide a Demo to your team or interested people. The September 3th (Tuesday) will be OK for me.

The Placement Tests Rubric component, which has been developed by Yale, is entirely built on top of current Samigo (Yale version 2.8.x), although it is loosely coupled. This Rubric component can be easily integrated into current Samigo with very low risk.

The Placement Test Rubric system is highly configurable and easy for instructor to set up a set of algorithms to evaluate the Test Results and provide immediate feedback to student, such as which Course Level he should register based on his performance on the test (including SAT II scores). So far, our Math department is very pleased with this new evaluation rubric system on Samigo and their Math placement exam has another half month to go (started from July 4th, ).

Please let me know if you need more information.

Thanks a lot!
Peter Liu

Subject: Placement tests extention to Tests & Quizzes?

Hi Peter and Sakai community
During July's conference Samigo ( Tests & Quizzes) BOF, Peter Liu of Yale briefly described an enhancement that would automatically make recommendations to students for the level of math they should be taking based on a placement test offered in Tests & Quizzes (or if I recall right, possibly even communicate with the registrar to disallow them to register for anything higher)

I would like to learn more and I'm wondering if there are others interested in this functionality? While none of the 3 subjects that hold placement tests currently conduct their testing within Sakai, we want to be prepared should interest develop.

Peter, if people are interested, is this contributable, or highly specialized to Yale's environment? Are you willing to demo? I had offered to have you demo at one of our monthly meetings at 11 pacific, 2 eastern. August 6 is already booking up, but Tues September 3 and October 1 are open. Let me know if you are willing--if we get at least two others, it might be worth it.
