TCC Colleagues,
Since it is not said enough I want to begin a bit off topic and thank all
of your dedication to Sakai and the tremendous length you go to make Sakai
awesome. Marist is in the final stages of preparing to upgrade to 2.9 and
we're very excited about all of the enhancements and new capabilities
which we know our faculty and students will benefit greatly from as we
head into the fall semester.
OK, back to the topic at hand...
As some of you may recall, the Teaching and Learning group has held what
we've referred to as "gatherings" at a couple of conferences over the past
few years as means to discuss the future interests and priorities of the
group. As one example, the first such gathering, which took place at the
Newport Beach conference, resulted in the Teaching with Sakai Innovation
Award program which is now entering its 6th year. I and others have
felted over the past year that the time is again right for such gathering
and will be holding another such event on Thursday, June 6th (10:45 AM to
11:30 AM) at the Open Apereo conference.
I am reaching out to invite TCC members (as well as any and all who are
engaged in development and technical work) to participate in this event
and join the discussion about future priorities for the Teaching and
Learning group. Beyond valuing your thoughts and ideas in general, the
T&L group has expressed interest in the past of working more closely with
TCC/developers and finding ways in which we could help support your
efforts. This could range from helping with QA to providing feedback on
JIRAs, user interface designs, requirements, etc. (these are just
examples so don't take them as concrete ideas).
Several T&L members are working to plan out the session next week and thus
it would be helpful if anyone who is interested in attending could reply
back by Friday of this week to let me know. If you're interested in
participating in the planning process just let me know and we'll include
you on our Doodle for finding a time.
Thanks and I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks!
Josh
