[sakai2-tcc] FYI - Sakai missing from IMS Global Conf. discussion?

All fair points so far but, I think, little to do with the TCC. I mean not to say that we are unconcerned about the future of the range of markets and needs the CLE (or Sakai or Apereo) serves. But the admittedly perennial "is the LMS dead?" conversation is exactly what the TCC formed to cut through and just get some lagging things done.

There are some innovations going on in the CLE. There is some breathing space for OAE to narrow in and execute on others. But the next big dollar add-on or integration or what have you (see portfolios, analytics, "social") is very early in the hype cycle and needs big investment and very precise focus (technical, marketing, engagement) to define and realize.

That seems like the wrong fit for the Sakai groups right now, as the CLE works to deliver at and above the plateau, and OAE tries to bring some really great ideas out of the trough. [1]

These are great discussions to listen in on. There are occasional gems. But I don't think it's the time for us to try to predict or strike out on the next great frontier. Focus and deliver on our current jobs -- that's what our community has pretty clearly asked us to do for now.

Thanks,
-Noah

[1] Sakai as Nicola said is completely different as there is nobody from the foundation controlling a roadmap and currently no single corporate affiliate that can single-handedly direct the future of the CLE. The TCC collectively does advise the community on a future roadmap. SCA's and edu bring together these and other changes based on their local desires. Though no there is no constant official spokesperson that would really fit on a panel like this one.
