[sakai2-tcc] Formal Votes for 2.9 Project Coordination Recommendations

Colleagues,
     A couple weeks ago I circulated the recommendations from the CLE project coordination meeting that need formal voting for one last round of discussion.

There has been no further discussion and it is time to vote on adoption of these recommendations.

We will have 5 sets of votes:


Vote 1:  2.9 Release Schedule

                * Adoption of a release schedule [1] that closely mirrors that of 2.8.0



Vote 2: Tool inclusions / Deprecations

               * Inclusion of NeoPortal.

                * Inclusion of Lesson Builder  in provisional  (ie stealthed) status

               * Inclusion of Mailsender, a drop-in replacement for the deprecated Mailtool, as a core tool

               * Inclusion of News Feeds as a core tool and the deprecation of the current New tool

 Vote 3: Functionality Changes

               * CKeditor will be the default editor for 2.9

               * Inclusion of soft delete for sites & resources



 Vote 4: Recommendations

               * Recommended version of MySQL is minimally 5.1

               * Recommended JDK is minimally 1.6



 Vote 5: Architectural / Library Changes

* Upgrade to Tomcat 7

               * Upgrade to JSF 1.2 version (dependency on upgrade of Tomcat 7

               * Removal of Support for IBM DB2 & IBM WebSphere Application Server
