IMHO, you put the TCC on notice about this in a timely fashion, 
and we just haven't caught up to giving the go-ahead.

I think it would be a good idea to let people take a look at the 
code a bit (as David H is doing) befor putting it into trunk and 
2.8. That way it can be approved and then merged in.
