Hi Jeff,
We had a problem getting optical scanning scores into Sakai because we traditionally used the student’s 9-digit numerical ID for the exams while we use our “Netpass” alphanumeric ID for Sakai accounts. We finally created a new Remark form which allows for alphanumeric input for the ID that is compatible with Sakai user ids. After scanning the exam we prepare a file that contains the exam scores that will manually import directly into the Sakai Gradebook. We don’t directly push results to instructors’ gradebooks but have a Sakai Dropbox for each instructor to retrieve their exam reports and file to import into the gradebook if they choose to.
Kathy Weeks is our optical scanning specialist. Feel free to email her for specific Remark questions.
We put our instructions and example on this page.

Subject: [Using Sakai] Using Remark (OMR) Software with Sakai
Is anyone currently using the Remark
(optical mark recognition software for
scanning plain paper forms such as exams)
and exporting the results to the Sakai
gradebook?
Thanks,
Jeff
