[Using Sakai] Grade book Extra credit

Hi! 

In the last version 10, there is a new option "Extra Credit" in the
Gradebook item.

I don't understand this option.

Where can I read a description of it?

If I use Gradebook setup and set Categories & Weighting to Categories &
Weighting -

In the case, if I set one category as extra grade, it looks like, that it is
not evaluated, but in all other cases it is evaluated as any other.

Is it right?
