[Using Sakai] Site title blanks..

I have a situation which is confusing to us;
I have a site name which is "MVS  553 Something"  (Note the two blanks after the 3).

In the database table SAKAI_SITE the Title field has this same string; but when I look at the site title listed on the site, or the site name found in a search of all sites, or the Worksite title found in a search (for "553") all of them have only one blank in that same position.
