[Using Sakai] Decouple open/start dates for assignments?

Hi Gregory,

I don't think there's a way to change that functionality in the
Assignments tool--i.e., you can't make an assignment visible to
students but not yet available for submission.

If you're using the FCKEditor, and it's configured for the "Entity
Picker" option (https://confluence.sakaiproject.org/display/SAKDEV/Entity+Picker),
you could send a "begin assignment" alert as an announcement that has
a link to the assignment.

Best,

Early visibility makes the course structure and progress through assignments more visible, and allows student sto start earlier if they wish.
