[Using Sakai] Embedded images in Email Archive tool

Hi everybody.

We have had a complaint from one of our teachers, because he is not able
to send embedded images in HTML emails when using Email Archive tool.

The image is sent by email client in an <img src> tag. However, when
Mail archive tool receives the email, the images are stripped from the
HTML content and are linked in the end of the email as attachments.
Links that, besides, are not accesible without logging into Sakai.

We are running Sakai 2.7.1 but I have checked that this is also the
behaviour in 2.8 installations.

I don't know too much about emails, but I wonder: is there any technical
reason for linking the embedded images as Sakai's attachments instead of
linking them as <img src> tags and sending them as multipart content?

Does anybody know some solution to send an embedded image with Email
Archive tool? The emails sent with Messages tool allow to do this.

Thanks in advance.
Best regards.
