[Using Sakai] New course realm and user friendly names for courses

Hello,

As we do not see in our foreseeable future a proper integration of Sakai 
with our course-students management system, we are thinking about 
creating a new course realm with proper roles for courses but without 
cumbersome course site creation of today and the ugly course titles it 
generates. Do you think is that a good idea? If so, should it be based 
on !site.template or !site.template.project?

More generally, has anyone done anything on menus/tabs with customised 
course titles (ej. Introduction to Programming I) instead of current 
course titles (PRG-0I-2012B-01)?
