Codecogs also has a plugin an allows for free generation of 3000 equations
per day (more with an annual fee).

Seems like a pretty generous limit. The cost of developing this feature for
the limited usefulness seems pretty steep, which is why it doesn't look
like anyone ever has done one.

Adding mathjax is pretty easy if you don't care about the wysiwyg editor
and just want to allow faculty to just copy/paste latex. I think we had a
problem though were some of the latex was being removed by
ProcessFormattedText and unless you wrapped it in in a tag that was marked
with a special class it slightly slowed down page rendering, as the
javascript scanned the entire page looking for the math delimiters.
