[Using Sakai] Sakai 2.8 - Which institutions have upgraded already?

Alan,

Something you might entertain as an option is activating CKEditor in a few sites. You can choose the system-wide default and override at a site level, which could give you a focused understanding of behavior with a smaller audience.

I encourage people to try it out but do warn that the integration is at a "beta" level. There are some known issues. The TCC did have some conversation on how to support CKEditor and move it forward. One of the questions is the input channel for feedback. I would say that the right answer (as usual) is to discuss things on list and file JIRA tickets. The other question is how we can ramp up the technical work -- I'm trying to make progress there (as I have unfortunately gated some of it) and have some gracious offers to help figure it out.

Real and expert user testing with documented results/issues/suggestions will help the process along dramatically. I welcome your feedback.

Thanks,
-Noah

P.S., things that don't work should probably target sakai-dev, while I would aim items like configuration ideas (toolbars, etc.) to sakai-user to get firmed up.

We notice, though, that some features, like Melete, "Word Count" in the Forums tool, and some other features aren't working currently with the new CKEditor, but can be addressed. The new CKEditor seems to be a better choice for usability, accessibility, and the simple fact that it strips out the MS Word junk without forcing the user to know about and use the "Paste from Word" tool. So, is anyone using the experimental CKEditor option right now?
