Jacqueline,

I'd be interested in a more precise description of how the partial
credit for multiple choice works. At our school we're using two which
I've described in the P.S. I wouldn't be surprised to see more coming
down the way.

Cheers,

Luke

PS:

Communication Dept. Version: This partial scoring engine is used by
the communication department. The partial scoring option assigns an
equal weight to all of the options in a multiple response question and
gives the student credit for each option that they mark correctly. The
total score for the question is based on the number of points possible
for the question. For example, let's say that a question is worth 2
points and has four options A, B, C, and D. A and B are the options
that should be marked in order to get full credit. If the student
marks just option A, they would get credit for 3 of the 4 options, and
therefore a score of 1.5 on the question. If the student were to mark
options A and D, they would only get credit for 2 of the 4 options (A
and C) and a score of 1.0.

Chemistry Dept. Version: This partial scoring engine is used by the
chemistry department. The question weight is divided equally among all
the correct distractors to calculate each correct distractor's point
value. The total question weight is also divided equally among all the
incorrect distractors to calculate each incorrect distractor's point
value. For every correct distractor the student checks they are
awarded the distractor's checked weight. Likewise, for every incorrect
distractor the student checks they are penalized the distractor's
checked weight.
