The new Respondus 4.0 has a moodle personality. If you retrieve
questions from a moodle server and use the print options with the ~exam
with answer key~ setting you can then copy to a clipboard and upload
directly in to your SAKAI course using the quick create and paste into
the question box function. Be careful to superuser in as the instructor
if you are creating a test pool and be sure to use the course title in
the beginning of the test pool name because the test pools follow you
around from course to course. If you are the admin when you do this you
will see the test pools in every course.

Calvin--you should be able to export your Moodle questions in a QTI
format (v. 2) and then import them into Sakai. Karen and Lydia should
be able to provide you with more details.

Cheers,

Anthony

Hi Calvin,

It sounds as if you want students to respond with specific words or
phrases. Even though you are asking about using a list of values to do
that, you can accomplish a similar thing with the multiple choice or the
fill-in-the-blank question types - probably much simpler.

We had success migrating questions using a combination of Respondus and
the Georgia Tech migration tool (the process is referred to on Univ of
Delaware's Sakai migrataion site). I don't know if it would work for
Moodle, but worked well for WebCT and Blackboard, so it would be worth a
try. The matching questions required tweaking, but it saved a tremendous
amount of time. Some faculty had questions in a home-grown test tool &
we used a text editor to get it in the correct format for QuickCreate.
Again, it didn't take us 100% of the way there, but saved a great deal
of time.

Josh.

Thanks for your reply I'm humbled honestly.

What I mean about embedded questions I basically mean that,You find in
one question a short answer question where student can type in an answer
and they can choose a correct answer form a variety of choices using a
drop down text box(For example when you fill in an application on-line
you have to choose your year of birth from a list of number of years
available to choose from.

Kind Regards,

Calvin Mutsileng.

Calvin,

I'll do my best to try and provide some initial answers but may need
more information because I can really help.

When you say "embedded" questions, could you clarify what you mean?

In terms of drop down menus, I don't know of a why of doing that using
the current question format types that are supported. Or are you
asking if you can have drop down menu for other things in Test & Quizzes
(e.g. configuration settings?)?.

Sakai supports the IMS QTI open standard for test questions. I'm not
sure if Moodle supports this same standard but if it does then you
should be able to find a way to export them from Moodle in this standard
and then import them into Sakai. Another option would be to look at a
software package like Respondus which might help with some of the
conversion.

FYI, Josh

1.How do I include embedded questions in Sakai?
2.How do you include a drop-down menu in Sakai for Test and Quizzes
3.How do you import questions from Moodle to Sakai. For example if you
have 900 questions in questions banks in Moodle and you want to Migrate
the questions from moodle to Sakai how do you do that because it is
taking me a lot and lot of time but please consider my question number
2 for this answer?
