[Using Sakai] Changing System Wide Test and Quiz Defaults

Ah, yes, we have encountered this problem (we were running 2.5.3 at the 
time).  We did get a patch from rSmart, our support vendor, that addressed 
the problem but I'm not sure if that patch made it into future Sakai 
releases so it may still be an issue in 2.6.

I'm copying Earle Nietzel, our IT staff member who supports Sakai here, as 
he should be able to provide details on the patch.

Josh is 100% right, but with one caveat.  If you use the "Quick Create" 
feature in the Tests and Quizzes tool, I believe it will not inherit the 
default settings from the "Default Assessment Type".  I think the settings 
when you use "Quick Create" are hard coded into that feature.  To change 
them you'd have to edit the Java source code and redeploy the tool.

If I'm understanding the question correctly, the process is even easier. 
If you go into any course site as a system admin and go to Test & Quizzes 
tool you can click on the "assessment type" link at the top of the screen. 
  One of the types listed with be the "default" type.  If you go into that 
you can change the default settings globally for all sites (just be 
careful as the change you make will be changed for everyone in the system 
once you hit update).

Hi,

We have the desire to change the default settings for a few of the 
options in Test and Quizzes.  Does anyone know how you go about doing 
that?  Is it a database change or a code change or a properties file 
change?
