[Using Sakai] Site hierarchy or subsites

Hello all,

I am looking for information about site hierarchy, there is a JIRA task 
that refers to it SAKAI-7907: Add hierarchy capability to the framework 
<http://bugs.sakaiproject.org/jira/browse/SAK-7907> and a discussion 
group is going on Google groupes: CSU Site, User and Group Requirements. 
<http://groups.google.com/group/sakai-kernel/web/csu-site-user-and-groups-requirements?version=6> 

It also seems some institutions has implemented something to reprensent 
a site hierarchy or subsites. Could your share your experience or refer 
me to an implementation?
