[Using Sakai] Mega Sites

Want to join us to present a panel discussion at the Sakai Boston
conference?

Here at UMich, we're seeing an emerging trend in mega-site requests.
Hundreds, sometimes thousands, of students/participants need to visit
the mega-site to perform often high stakes tasks. Of course, then a
corps of significant others (program administrators, graders,
reviewers, future instructors, etc.) need to efficiently and
effectively take subsequent action.

For example, UMich units are using or exploring the use of Sakai to
administer incoming student writing samples (5000 novice users!),
Business School writing proficiency tests, and Honors Program
admissions essays. Some of our units are using Sakai for grand
outreach education, and that too comes with unique requirements.

We're wondering if other institutions are seeing a similar trend and/
or meeting similar needs. If so, would you be willing to share
experiences? We want to learn from you!... your scenarios, the tools
employed, the technical challenges, any customizations and
improvisations, and by all means your successes.

It seems natural to wrap up our panel with potential recommendations
for how Sakai 3.0 might address the special considerations exposed by
these case studies.

Proposals are due on Friday, so please let us know soon if you'd like
to co-present with us.
