[WG: Sakai QA] Announcing the Sakai 2.8 Accessibility Review

Hello!

The Sakai 2.8 alpha 1 tag is out and QA Servers with Sakai 2.8.0-Alpha 01 are ready for testing which means it is time to start another Accessibility Review of Sakai 2! The Accessibility Working Group has scheduled weekly teleconferences (on Thursdays at 2pm EDT / 11am PDT) starting this Thursday, September 30th, and each Thursday in October to discuss and facilitate the 2.8 Accessibility Review. To participate:

    * Dial (812) 856-3600
    * Enter Conference Access Code: 002264#
    * Listen until the conference begins

Accessibility Review Conference Dates:

   * Thursday September 30th,  2pm EDT  (11am PDT)
   * Thursday October 7th,  2pm EDT
   * Thursday October 14th,  2pm EDT
   * Thursday October 21th,  2pm EDT
   * Thursday October 28th,  2pm EDT

Don't worry if you can't make it to the Kick Off meeting! Feel free to join us at any time. If you can't make one of the meetings, please feel free to contact me directly (Brian Richwine, brichwin at indiana.edu<mailto:brichwin at indiana.edu> or 812-856-2757) and I can help you get involved.

How you can help:

  * Help write and/or review our tool walkthrough scripts
  * Use Firefox and a collection of Accessibility Add-ons to examine the coding and accessibility features of a tool's interface
  * Use an adaptive technology (screen-reader, screen-magnifier, etc.) and a walk-through script to test a tool
  * Help resolve Accessibility Issues we uncover

We'd love to involve as many users of adaptive technology (screen readers, screen magnifiers, speech recognition, text readers, etc.) as possible in the testing.
