Hi all,

As Anthony hinted at, the quick release of 2.7.0 will critically depend on resources for a final testing round specifically searching for regressions and quick patching of any last minute lint. Fast response to questions and positive energy for your fellow hard workers especially from the code patcher's should give us the momentum needed to finish this tiring last round promptly.

As we move from beta to RC, QA is saying that we think that the code base is ready for pilot projects. In the coming days the release documentation becomes solid and given enough timely resources Sakai 2.7.0 will quickly be launched.
 
I would like to thank Anthony Whyte who has again worked hard over the weekend behind the scenes nudging the lifecycle forward. In the coming minutes I will ask the QA network to deploy RC01.

Keep up the good work everyone, one last push.

Yes, I just tagged sakai-2.7.0-rc01 but it has yet to be announced (till now I suppose), picked up by the QA server admins or checked for regressions.  As far as a release schedule goes the pattern is this:  we have been rolling tags (except this last one) since January every other week:  if this tag survives scrutiny we should be able to release during the second week of June if not earlier;  however, if QA uncovers serious regressions that cannot be addressed quickly the possibility exists that the release will be delayed until after the Sakai Conference (15-17 June).
