[WG: Sakai QA] Conversion scripts: Microsoft SQL Server scripts (who maintains?)

MS SQL conversion scripts were added to trunk in July 2009 (SAK-16610) and a copy resides in 2.7.x. The script is in a rather anemic state when compared to the Oracle and MySQL conversion scripts. Over the intervening months a few intrepid developers have added a script here and there but I assume that the current incompleteness of the 2.7.0/2.8.0 MS SQL conversion scripts is due to the fact that most developers are unfamiliar with SQL Server and hesitant to update its scripts and are also working under the assumption that it's not their responsibility to maintain these scripts.

Is anyone overseeing the MS SQL scripts and if so do they plan to keep them up-to-date? I do not recall that we plan to offer MS SQL Server support in Sakai 2.7 or a future 2.x release. If no plan exists, I plan to remove the MS SQL script from the 2.7.x branch since it provides a false impression of community support. Whether or not the scripts should be removed from trunk and relocated to contrib is I think an issue worth discussing.

Cheers,

Anthony
