In passing, I'll note here (done already in the Jira issue) that 
2.5 is probably affected by this bug as well since BINARY_ENTITY 
serialization is the default for all new content as of that 
version. A check of the 2.5 convertToFile() code shows that it's 
identical to 2.6/K1 code.
