Colleagues,

My thanks to Anthony for replying and agreeing to engage with the
marketing interns.

This is my final plea here for more help.

I'm not asking for more than a few hours of people's time over the entire
fall semester and was hoping that a few more folks would step forward to
assist. All that you'd need to do is provide answers and feedback to the
students to help them understand how to best position and market Sakai.
Given the importance that has been placed on marketing and communications
I'll admit that I'm surprised by the limited response. There are several
folks from the Teaching and Learning Group ready to engage with the
students, if we could get 1 - 2 more PMC folks that would be a huge help.

I believe this model has huge potential to address critical strategic
needs of the Sakai project but it will require effort by the entire
community, not just the students.

If folks are not responding because I've done something inappropriate or
out-of-line with how things are normally done in this group please let me
know.

Thanks, Josh

Support

Folks,

I'm re-posting my note from earlier in the week to make sure everyone saw
it as I know its a busy time of the year for many of us.

I will be spending time with the marketing and communication interns and
graduate students next week in order to help them prepare a strategy for
Sakai. This will only be successful though if we can get a few other
leaders in the community to help out as well and engage with the students.
Several folks in the Teaching and Learning group agreed to do so on the
call this week but I think it is critical that a few PMC members are also
involved. This should not take more then a few hours over the course of
the fall semester.

Might 2-3 members be able to engage with the interns and graduate students
that are now involved?

It would be a big help if I could update them when I speak to them early
next week.

Thanks, Josh

Sent by: sakai-pmc-bounces at collab.sakaiproject.org

Colleagues,

I want to update folks on some of the plans that are underway to bring
some more marketing support into the Sakai community and specifically the
PMC. I would be happy to provide more details, answer questions or
address concerns.

Over the past few weeks I have been working to finalize plans that I noted
in an earlier post to engage Marist students in our School of
Communications and the Arts to provide marketing and communication support
and expertise to Sakai. With support from the Apereo Foundation and
Marist College I'm excited to share that we have now created two Sakai
Marketing and Communication Internship positions, one which is being
filled by a Marist undergraduate and the other by a recent graduate from
our Masters in Integrated Marketing and Communication. Both interns, who
will both be paid, will be under the supervision of Dr. Mark Van Dyke who
is a senior faculty member in our School of Communications and who has 25+
years providing communication leadership in the US Navy.

In addition, Both Mark and Dr. Jennie Donahue will be working to
incorporate marketing and communication activities for Sakai into their
fall semester graduate courses. The first phase of this work will focus
on developing a strategy marketing and communication strategy which we
hope to complete over the next 8 weeks. Following this, students will
focus on implementing this plan over the remained of the fall. If this is
successful we will work to expand the efforts going into the spring which
could include engaging additional institutions.

I NEED YOUR HELP...
Although Mark will be providing oversight and supervision of this work,
this team will need to connect with experienced Sakai community members as
they conduct research, analyze our needs and provide recommendations. I
would value having 2-3 PMC members come forward who would be willing to
engage with the students over the fall. The amount of time and effort
should be relatively small (a few hours over the semester) and I think you
will find this to be both fun and rewarding as you'll be helping to
provide a powerful learning experience for these students as they help us
better market Sakai.

Finally, if you think there are faculty at your institution who might be
interested in replicating this model and working with Mark next semester
please let me know.

Thanks, Josh
