[Building Sakai] mounting webDAV on linux

This is the tutorial I followed to try WebDav mounting.

Though I think there is a problem with davfs being single threaded so it is VERY slow under some circumstances. 

Maybe someone has a better option.

We have a user who wants to mount a sakai site via webdav on a linux client via davfs2? Has anybody done this - or is this one of the things that doesn't quite work? 

He sees: 

/sbin/mount.davfs: Mounting failed. 
404 Not Found
