Is this of any use? It’s some notes I made a few years ago about serving different content predicated on roles. If you change the My Workspace templates then you need to delete all My Workspaces – when the user logs in they will be recreated based on the new template.

Sam Ottenhoff: I recommend creating static HTML files for the multiple roles. Create them in a public folder (Administration Workspace -> Resources -> public).
Then customize the My Workspace template for the multiple roles (!user.template.student, !user.template.staff, !user.template.faculty).
If you want the tips on the home page of the My Workspace, edit the Home Page (Administration Workspace -> Sites -> !user.template.student -> Pages -> Home -> Tools) and add a new Web Content tool to the Home page.
Note that existing My Workspaces need to be deleted before receiving the new template.

Subject: [Building Sakai] Custom URL at Customized Web Content page

Hi,

I'm developing a stand-alone e-membership for our client and it needs to be integrated to Sakai. I was wondering if there is any way that whenever a user logs in to http://ourdomain.com:8080/portal, the web content shows a specific page tailored for that kind of user?

The user can be one of the following roles in our stand-alone e-membership: admin, member, staff. Each role has different urls / views to begin with. Is there any way we can implement that they don't need to re-log in to the e-membership when they click the customized web content button at the left of the screen? Because right now all I can implement is a fixed URL attached to the customized web content button.

Also, right now I'm trying to implement PHP-Bridge to convert Java functions to PHP, but I think there might be someone before who has done this and might present a better answer than what I am trying to do.

We are talking of hundreds, maybe even thousands of users with each a specific role.

I'd appreciate any feedback. Thank you and more power to Sakai!

Best regards,
Carlos
