Dear Sakai Community,
The UVaCollab/Scholarly Technology Team in the department of Information
Technology Services at UVa is seeking a highly qualified Senior Systems
Engineer. The successful candidate should be eager to work with a
diversely talented, collegial team of software engineers to perform
customizations, integrations, development, and maintenance of UVa's
version of Sakai, an open source Java-based learning management system.
This candidate will understand and utilize a broad range of software
development tools and environments and will have the creativity,
passion, and drive to take responsibility for delivering quality
features and customizations that meet functional, user experience, and
accessibility requirements.
By leveraging your experience, you will execute the following:
* Maintain and improve University of Virginia's customized Sakai CLE
learning management system (UVaCollab), including developing bug
fixes, designing and implementing new features, applying patches, etc.
* Ensure consistent, reliable, and secure operation of UVaCollab
through careful development and change review, including writing
appropriate documentation and reproducible testing procedures.
* Participate in periodic larger-scale projects, such as the annual
upgrade of UVaCollab to a recent Sakai CLE release, and take primary
responsibility for portions of these projects.
* Assist the Support/QA team in communications with faculty and
students to answer user questions and diagnose reported issues.
* Contribute to the success of other scholarly technology efforts,
including third-party software integrations and maintenance of the
course evaluations system.
An excellent compensation and benefits package makes this a very
attractive opportunity. For the complete job description and to apply,
